Introduction

From fundamental research to production, Dassault Aviation, industrial architect and integrator of complex systems, masters all the skills, tools and resources that make it a key player in strategic technologies and enable it to take the lead in tomorrow’s major civil and military aviation projects.

An incubator of technologies, a federator of synergies, a talent spotter, Dassault Aviation masters cutting-edge technologies, data and their implementation. This rare expertise places Dassault Aviation at the heart of French and European aeronautical R&D;

With the success of the nEUROn program, a technological demonstrator project for an unmanned combat air vehicle (UCAV), launched at France’s initiative in 2003 and developed within the framework of a European industrial cooperation, Dassault Aviation has demonstrated its capacity as an architect and validated the success of the European cooperation model it advocates: The timetable was kept to, the budget was respected and the technological results were outstanding.

Since 2012, the nEUROn has been the first stealth UCAV to be developed in European cooperation. Its tests have provided vital data on this type of strategic system, particularly in terms of high stealth, and will benefit the development of the stealth combat drone announced in October 2024, which will complement the Rafale’s future F5 standard (post-2030).

Joined by the Italian, Swedish, Spanish, Greek and Swiss governments, together with their industrial teams, Alenia, SAAB, EADS-CASA, Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI) and RUAG, the nEUROn program has also broken new ground in terms of industrial organization by appointing Dassault Aviation as prime contractor for the project. The responsibilities and contributions of the industrial participants from six countries were allocated according to their skills. Dassault Aviation fully played its role as architect and pilot responsible for arbitration.
